Dear friends,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and everyone who takes part in bands across our Association, I would like to offer our sincere thanks to the 2020 Conference Team at Rose City Pride Bands. The team and their organization put in such a great amount of work planning for our July gathering. There are so many elements that have to come together to make a successful conference — financial, logistic, and artistic. The Portland team was well on their way to producing an event that would have provided many fond memories in the years to come. We are all grateful for the team’s efforts and send special thanks to Denny Richard, the conference chair, for leading their efforts. I hope that we have a chance to visit the Bridge City soon in the years to come.
The situation that our world faces is without precedent in living memory, and many non-profit and artistic organizations are finding new ways to offer their programming. In that spirit, the business and the connectedness of our Association will continue on. The LGBA Board would like to ask you to “Save the Date” of this year’s conference weekend, July 25–26, for a new kind of gathering. In addition to an online Assembly of Delegates meeting (similar to the one we held in 2017 after Hurricane Harvey), we are looking at plans and ideas for other programs and workshops we could offer through video conferencing, including the annual Ignite! LGBA.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Until then, I hope you stay connected to your band family both at home and throughout LGBA. Our interpersonal connection is such a strength and solace in this time.
Until we meet again,
Cliff Norris
