It is with great pleasure to submit this nomination for Bruce Freeman. Bruce is a co-founder of the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble (formerly known as The Flamingo Freedom Band). Our organization is approaching our 40th anniversary in 2026 and this would not be happening without the efforts of Bruce in the late 80s. For over 20 years, Bruce was a very active member of the band and served in several roles on the board. While Bruce, and his husband Dale, retired in central Florida several years ago, he has stayed in contact with our band and supported from afar. He also was a huge part of the creation and proliferation of the central Florida band (his 3rd, after DC and South Florida).

Bruce Freeman has helped found at least 3 Pride Bands Alliance Bands, and is currently a board member for CFSOF. Bruce is one of the rare people who sees the big picture, the long game, and has vision of what COULD be. It takes a miracle to get one band started and growing, Bruce has been instrumental (pun intended) in at least 3. He is not a bragger, so you wouldn’t even know he has been such a huge part of these organizations unless you ask the organization.
